The keto diet involves eating less carbs and foods that are high in protein and fat.
That means bread and pasta are strictly off the menu. However, popular treats like cheese and bacon are encouraged.
How does the diet work? By eating low carb the body is forced to run using fat as is primary fuel.
This is known as a state of ketosis, and it burns a lot of fat, helping people slim down.

These include nuts, such as peanuts and brazil nuts etc. You could also reach for olives, cheese and eggs.
Those who are usually tempted by crisps might prefer snacks like jerky or other cold cuts of meat. On the other hand, pork scratchings might fill that hole.
Veg and dips can be good, maybe carrots, cucumber and cream cheese.
Confectionary fans will be happy to know that they can have chocolate. Dark chocolate has less carbs.
The usual breakdown for a keto diet is to get 70 per cent to 80 per cent of your daily calories from fat.
