February 26 (Renewables Now) – Brazil’s Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels Agency (ANP) announced on Thursday that the country’s 78th biodiesel auction contracted roughly 1.3 billion litres (343m gallons) in total.
The average price of BRL 4.708 per litre achieved in the tender resulted in a final contract value of around BRL 6.15 billion (USD 1.1bn/EUR 913m). In all, 43 producers offered some 1.5 billion litres in the tender.
A little over 1.2 billion litres were sold in the first three days, all with the Social Fuel Seal, awarded under a government incentive to source raw materials from small farms. Around 62.8 million were sold in the final day.
The 78th complementary tender covers domestic biofuel supply from March 1 to April 30, 2021. As of March 1, the mandatory mixture of the biofuel in the diesel B — a blend of regular and biodiesel — will increase to 13% from 12%, ANP noted.
